ABOUT BORN BEAUTIFUL
Born Beautiful Hair Loss Foundation Inc. is a nonprofit organization founded by Evelyn Metellus, a hairstylist with over 27 years of experience. The foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization that aims to create beautiful, medical-grade wigs for people experiencing hair loss. She is even more passionate about children dealing with a disease that causes hair loss.

Losing hair can be a traumatic experience for anyone. It can be devastating and even more challenging for children as they may not fully understand why it’s happening. As someone who experienced hair loss early on in life due to a house fire, Evelyn knows all too well the toll hair loss takes on a child.
Evelyn started her career in nursing, where she would care for a patient fighting cancer daily. Evelyn always made it a point to ensure that the patient’s hair looked beautiful every day. The patient was very impressed with how well Evelyn took care of her and suggested that Evelyn’s talent was in hairdressing. She even offered to pay for Evelyn’s cosmetology school fees. As they say, Evelyn took up the offer, and the rest is history.
Evelyn’s expertise spans a multitudinous array of techniques, integrating beauty and health in a seamless transition, truly transforming every hair type. This fantastic combination has earned her the coveted and well-deserved title of The Hair Doctor.
WHY SPONSOR OUR EVENT?
Losing hair due to an illness or medical condition can be emotionally devastating. It’s not just about losing hair, but also losing a sense of one’s self and identity. Hair loss is a common symptom or side effect of many medical conditions. For instance, 2 percent of Americans are affected by alopecia areata, and about 40 percent of people in the United States are diagnosed with cancer at some point in their lives. To help individuals suffering from hair loss feel beautiful inside and out, the Born Beautiful Hair Loss Foundation Inc., a nonprofit organization founded by experienced and reputable stylist Evelyn Metellus, provides custom hairpieces to restore confidence.
Wigs made from special texture materials that don’t irritate the scalp are necessary in such cases. However, such materials come at a hefty price. For instance, a medical-grade wig for a child can cost anywhere from $800 to $1000, while for adults, the price can range from $1000 and beyond.
When it comes to providing medical-grade wigs, Evelyn finds it difficult to say no to anyone in need. She has spent thousands of her own money to make sure she never has to turn anyone away.

TANIA ROGERS
Tania Rogers co-anchors the WPTV NewsChannel 5 newscast at 5:30 pm and the WFLX Fox 29 10 pm newscast. She also reports on stories that impact the community.
She’s lived in different cities. She’s was born in New York where she spent part of her childhood years, then in Panama, Central America, then Florida.
She volunteers with her church’s youth group where she mentors teen girls. And serves on her station’s Diversity Committee where she was a co-leader. She’s volunteered with local organizations, including with Hospice and Student Aces, a high school mentoring program. Tania is also a mentor mom who volunteers for MOPS, Mothers Of Pre-Schoolers.
